Due to popular demand, the deadline for The Pineapples has been extended to a final date of 28 November. With 16 categories covering all aspects of place development, the judging panel is prepped to start the rigorous three-stage process to determine who is going to win a golden pineapple for place.

The Pineapples celebrate the placemaking and place-led initiatives, recognising projects that make a positive social, environmental and economic impact.

Categories to enter for 2026 include Place of Year, Activation, Public Space, Community Engagement, Place in Progress, Creative Retrofit, Future Place, International Future Place, Infrastructure, Building, Future Public Realm, Climate Resilience, Child Friendly Place, Strategy, Community Space and Healthy Homes.

Guiding the judges on each category will be a dedicated group of chairs recently announced, leaning on their professional and personal experience to establish the very best of place. The full list of judges and chairs can be viewed below.

The Pineapples team is also delighted to announce new partner sponsors ROCKWOOL Limited. They’ll be bringing their support to the Healthy Homes category run in association with the TCPA to celebrate completed homes that promote the health of residents and citizens. ROCKWOOL Limited. is part of the ROCKWOOL Group, a leading manufacturer of stone wool products, a durable, endlessly recyclable, versatile material that forms the basis of all their businesses.

The Pineapples awards for place is also sponsored by Vestre, supporting Future Public Realm and Public Space, and Tectonix, supporting Place in Progress.
