South Oxfordshire District Council seek team for the decarbonisation of two leisure centres

A single team with a proven track record for working on similar projects is being sought by Oxfordshire District Council to decarbonise two leisure centres in compliance with the terms and conditions of a grant.

 

The Phase 4 Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) Salix Finance grant award will partially cover the funding for works on both sites, which must meet all grant requirements.

 

The single team must work collaboratively across both centres to provide the expertise and skill needed for the delivery of energy efficient systems and sustainable practices, and provide design solutions to optimise these across the sites for cohesive implementation.

 

Originally constructed in 1959 as a school, the first site, the Abbey Sports Centre, Berinsfield, was converted to a sports centre in the 1980s and includes a gym, pool and sports hall.

 

The second site, Henley Leisure Centre, built in the 1970s, provides squash courts and a sauna and steam room.

 

Both will require the addition of Solar PVs and removal of the existing boiler with overall upgrades to the heating and air handling units. Replacement of the insulation across the roof, walls and windows is a must to ensure increased energy efficiency.
