Join Part W x Festival of Place for an online workshop exploring the everyday obstacles women face in the built environment as part of our #BuiltBarriers campaign
A mix of inspiring talks followed by discussion and breakout rooms, the event will be an opportunity to work collaboratively with others in the built environment looking to challenge the everyday obstacles that our Built Barriers campaign has shown us exist across the built environment.
As part of Part W’s #BuiltBarriers campaign—launched on International Women’s Day, and including a successful workshop held as part of the London Festival of Architecture in June —we’ve been crowdsourcing real-world examples of design barriers that limit inclusion, from underlit public spaces to inaccessible facilities. For this next stage we are moving our focus on to the root causes of these Built Barriers to look at systemic problems such as policy decisions, economic priorities and entrenched gender biases. What can we learn about these causes? And how are they being tackled across the country and around the world?
We have a panel of insightful speakers who will be sharing their thoughts on how we can look differently at the problems identified so far by the Built Barriers campaign followed by an interactive workshop led by Part W facilitators.
We’re inviting everyone—built environment professionals and allies of all genders and backgrounds—to work with us on the systemic reasons why #BuiltBarriers come about.
