Staffordshire County Council seek consultant to produce a night-time economy strategy

Building on Staffordshire’s Economic Strategy (2023 – 2030), the council is looking for a consultant to produce a night-time economy strategy which will look at how the evening can significantly contribute to the daytime economy.

Staffordshire already hosts many established theatres, cinemas and live music venues which can be built on to provide an inclusive and safe nightlife. The existing strategy aims to generate local jobs, encourage innovation and help businesses grow with the regeneration of the town centres.

As with many cities, Staffordshire’s night life faced pressures during the COVID-19 pandemic with venues under financial strain. According to the Night Time Industries Association, the West and East Midlands saw nearly 2,000 late-night businesses close in the wake of the pandemic. Some venues, such as the Top of the World pivoted to become multifunction event spaces for use during the day and night.

The council is seeking a strategy "drives the vision of Staffordshire becoming a premier night-time destination, known for its vibrant, safe, and inclusive evening and night-time economy."
