Knutsford Town Council are seeking submissions for a new cycle path to provide active travel across the town centre, industrial park and new residential development.

Linking Church Walk with Parkgate Lane via Dog Wood, the idea was developed through the Knutsford Neighbourhood Plan and Cycle Infrastructure Plan and underwent preliminary design in 2024.

Now the council wish to undertake the work suggested to progress the project through more detailed surveys. This tender will establish which of the two proposed routes (A or B) will be developed.

With the route passing through multiple land ownerships - Tatton Estates, Cheshire East Council, National Trust, United Utilities and National Rail – the detailed report will establish the impact on each owner.

Knutsford Town Council specifically highlights National Trust’s involvement as they will need a more detailed report on the impact to the historic landscape alongside tree surveys and an ecology report for their portion of the route.

The tender submission should also provide a topographical or land survey (including tree survey, services, levels, fence lines, etc) and a construction document for the proposed route.

Submissions should be sent to townclerk@knutsfordtowncouncil.gov.uk by 5pm on 22 April.
