Following preliminary market engagement, the significant building is presenting as a residential opportunity [Deadline 25 March 2026]
Kirklees Council is seeking an experienced developer to regenerate the historic Huddersfield Estate Building’s for residential use.
The 1800s, Grade II-listed structure in the heart of Huddersfield Town Centre was been vacant since use as an office space was paused.
Located in part of the Station Gateway area, the conversion aims to attract new residents to the area with high quality, safe and spacious living environments.
As one of six areas to be regenerated through the Huddersfield Blueprint, the development should foster community and encourage young professionals and graduates from Huddersfield University to the centre.
The Huddersfield Blueprint is a decade-long scheme to create a thriving town centre, centred on Huddersfield’s identity.
Market feedback on the project was undertaken in late 2025 with award decision to made in August 2026 following a two-stage process.
Interested developers are asked to complete a Procurement Specific Questionnaire (PSQ) as part of stage 1. Successful enquiries will be invited to Submit Final Tenders (ISFT).
