Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council seek community engagement for age-friendly project

Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council seek a supplier to run a series of community engagement activities towards an Age Friendly Project through the PEACEPLUS Programme — a €1.44bn investment across Northern Ireland and its borders to provide a stable and prosperous society.

The selected provider will need to deliver in-person workshops across six different occasions and three locations to promote physical activity, health and well-being among older residents, encourage volunteering and digital skills development, strengthen links with local service providers, and deliver arts, crafts, heritage, community support and intergenerational activities.

Through the 2022-2025 Age-Friendly Strategy and Action Plan, several outcomes have been identified to support the quality of life of an ageing population in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s districts.

With two in every ten people living in the area aged 60 and over, the programme should apply eight key themes, including are social participation; Respect and social inclusion; Civic participation and employment; Communication and information; Community support and health services; Outdoor spaces and buildings; Transportation and Housing.

Across the 2.5 year contract, each workshop should be delivered once per week across a six-week window to engage and encourage participants through exercise, training, arts and volunteering opportunities.

It is also key that the programme encourages intergenerational mingling through the activities.
